Become an IS Security Specialist within Southern California Edison's Grid Security Operations Center (GSOC) and help protect the technology, telecommunications, and cybersecurity systems that support one of the nation's largest electric utilities.  In this role, you'll operate within a fast-paced, mission-critical environment responsible for monitoring network and security events, supporting incident response activities, and helping ensure the reliability and security of systems that support electric grid operations. Working alongside engineering, telecommunications, cybersecurity, and operational teams, you'll help identify risks, resolve complex incidents, and make operational decisions that directly support the delivery of safe and reliable power to millions of customers.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Experience working in a Network Operations Center (NOC), Security Operations Center (SOC), Telecommunications Operations Center, or similar 24x7 operational environment.
• Experience supporting critical infrastructure, utility operations, telecommunications networks, or enterprise technology environments.
• Demonstrated ability to make sound operational decisions independently and with minimal supervision during routine and emergency situations.
• Experience with incident response, outage management, problem management, and root cause analysis.
• Experience with routing, switching, firewalls, VPN technologies, and network security best practices.
• Experience with network monitoring, event management, observability, and performance management platforms.
• Cisco certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent industry-recognized certification(s).
• Nokia Network Routing Specialist (NRS) certification.
• Palo Alto Networks certifications such as PCCET, PCNSA, or PCNSE.
• Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks, risk management practices, and critical infrastructure protection principles.
• Experience creating and maintaining operational procedures, runbooks, and technical documentation.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate during incidents and operational events.
• Experience working in a collaborative environment supporting multiple operational and technology teams.

Additional Information 

• This position’s work mode is on-site. The employee will report to an SCE facility or in the field location.  Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.

• The primary work location for this position is Alhambra, CA.  However, the successful candidate may also be asked to work for an extended amount of time at an alternate work location, Irvine, CA.
• This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation.  Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
• This position's schedule is 4/10's (4 days a week, 10-hour days).
• Relocation does not apply to this position.
