Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership, direction, and training to PSO3s and below, checks work and assumes responsibility for accuracy of the groups work product.
  • Provides leadership in addressing Grid Operations short-and long-term needs for solutions to operating challenges. Support and provide improve consistency in specialized installations (TLRR, BESS, RAS/CRAS) in response to operational needs. Analyze electric system operating data and make timely decisions that ensure safe and reliable operation.
  • Support real-time operations by developing, updating, and maintaining system documentation like EMS computer screens, one-line diagrams, Outage Notes, System Operating Bulletins and Operating Procedures as needed to reflect the changes to the Grid caused by abnormal system conditions and Capital projects.
  • Ensure that SCE oprational procedures are in alignment with WECC, NERC, FERC, CAISO, and CPUC standards. Actively supports and may lead in the audit planning and presentation process. Ensures the ongoing gathering of all operations related evidence for compliance. Stays abreast of upcoming compliance related issues and discussions.
  • Represents SCE at external technology meetings and workshops and Grid Operations in internal meetings impacting electric system operations. Researches and implements emerging technologies driving adoption to enhance real-time monitoring.
  • Provides SME support in the development and delivery of operations and compliance related training.
  • Provides thorough and timely updates to leadership, keeping stakeholders aware of important details.
  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ten or more years of experience in electric system operations.

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field.
  • Experience with Substations and Substation Operations.
  • Experience with CAISO and the operation of the Grid, including Generation and Transmission systems.
  • NERC Certification
  • Knowledge of NERC, WECC, CAISO, and SCE standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Experience collaborating with various teams to accomplish objectives. Including decision making, risk assessment, organizing meetings, and preparing documentation to support and record project activities.
  • Effective communication, interpersonal and leadership skills. A strong work ethic with the ability to manage workload, and an eagerness for continuous learning.

 

 

Additional Information 

 

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.  Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California.  Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.

  • The primary work location for this position is Alhambra. However, the successful candidate may have the option to work at another SCE facility.
  • Position will require up to 50% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory. 
  • This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
  • Relocation does not apply to this position.
