The Senior Project Manager is accountable for all aspects of project execution, including budget, schedule, procurement, regulatory compliance, construction, and closeout. Based out of Big Creek with a flexible hybrid schedule, the role offers autonomy and balance while remaining closely connected to the work in the field. Responsibilities

  • Manages one or more large, long-term and/or complex projects or programs with responsibility for results in terms of scope, schedule, cost/budget, and risk in accordance with the organization and company policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Develops strategy and business cases, objectives and initiatives related to projects and seeks approval from management in accordance with MPO policies, procedures and guidelines; with review of a senior manager or principal manager; leads the development, and management of the project schedule; leads the development of the project budget; manages the project change control process.
  • Leads a large team of professionals and project managers (combination of SCE and supplemental ICs and leaders) and contractors in the development and execution of major projects and programs; provides both strategic and tactical leadership and well as oversight of work performed; addresses performance issues and elevates as needed; regularly makes decisions regarding project direction; develops recommendations for senior management and executive level decisions.
  • Engages regularly with executive and senior management as a key consultant on critical business issues; Regularly develops and presents to executive and senior management on project related issues and prescribed milestones for approval.
  • Provides overall project leadership for safety, ensuring that the design incorporates the latest standard and requirements and that the work associated with the project is conducted injury free.
  • Holds a high level of fiscal responsibility and approval authority related to projects and programs; responsible for leading the development of cost estimates, project and program budgets, approving expenditures and reviewing project expenditures for appropriateness (supports SOX financial accountability).
  • Initiates project, forms and develops project team, leads the project development, including development of preferred and alternative project scope, leads the environmental assessment development inclusive of state and federal license applications, represents SCE with state and federal agencies, leads project execution including engineering, permit acquisition, land acquisition, construction planning including material procurement, project execution strategy development, contract development and execution, contract management and contractor oversight, testing plans, quality assurance program and plans, and project closeout.
  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ten or more years of experience in construction project management. Experience structuring, negotiating and managing contracts.
  • Experience working with environmental agencies in permitting infrastructure projects.
  • Possess a valid Class C Driver's License.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of project management experience driving scope, schedule, and budget accountability.
  • Demonstrated experience managing large, complex, high-dollar infrastructure/hydro projects (e.g., multi-year, multi-stakeholder programs with budgets in the tens of millions).
  • 5+ years with demonstrably relevant owner-side delivery of complex infrastructure programs with ability to develop and present business cases and budget/funding requests to governance bodies and senior leadership.
  • Working knowledge of environmental/regulatory compliance and permitting processes for infrastructure projects; ability to coordinate with agencies and internal SMEs.
  • Proficiency with Primavera P6 for developing and managing integrated schedules.
  • Strong procurement and contracting background, including writing RFPs, supporting contractor selection, and negotiating contracts/change orders in technically complex environments.

 

 

Additional Information 

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.  Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California.  Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.

  • Position will require up to 60% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory. 
  • This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation.  Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
  • Relocation does not apply to this position.
