This role is critical to ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant rotorcraft operations under FAR Parts 91 and 133, with a strong emphasis on utility long-line missions. The Chief Pilot must demonstrate knowledge and skill in rotorcraft external-load operations The Chief Pilot will also support corporate initiatives, represent Air Operations in executive-level presentations, and contribute to strategic planning.

Responsibilities
- Manages resources and budget levels to meet strategic objectives and operational needs
- Oversees all third party contract aircraft operators and tracks when their work is scheduled and completed
- Provides strategic direction to deliver safe, reliable and affordable aviation services in support of company-wide operations
- Develops strategy, policies, programs, and procedures for incorporating aviation services across SCE and its respective operations
- Designs and implements key performance expectations and goals ensuring alignment with company objectives, policies, and procedures
- Develops and maintains relationships with stakeholders and third party vendors in order to be aware of developing methodology standards
- Designs and implements strategies for long-term planning and budgeting as well as various aviation work methods
- Develops, recommends, and implements strategies that meet current and future business requirements
- A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.
Minimum Qualifications
- Five or more years of experience supervising a team of direct reports and/or project management.
- Experience in flight operations.
Preferred Qualifications
- FAA Commercial Rotorcraft Certificate.
- Minimum of 3,000 hours total flight time, with at least 1,500 hours in helicopters.
- Demonstrated experience in FAR Part 91 and Part 133 operations.
- Extensive long-line utility experience (minimum 500 hours).
- Current Class II Medical Certificate.
- Proven leadership experience in aviation operations.
- Strong understanding of aviation safety management systems (SMS).
- Conduct pre-operation planning, area surveys, and coordinate with crew and ground personnel.
- Demonstrate proficiency in load rigging, attachment procedures, and understanding rotorcraft performance and limitations.
- Execute flight maneuvers with external loads, including hovering, directional control, and precise load placement.
- FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate – Rotorcraft.
- Experience as a Chief Pilot or Director of Operations in a utility or commercial rotorcraft operation.
- Prior experience with electric utility or infrastructure support missions.
- Familiarity with rotorcraft fleet types such as Bell 429, Airbus H125, or similar.
- Bachelor's degree in Aviation, Aeronautical Science, or related field.
- Experience with flight operations software and digital flight tracking systems.
Additional Information
- This position’s work mode is on-site. The employee will report to an SCE facility or in the field location. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
