In this job, you’ll supervise Transmission construction/patrol field crews as it relates to the safety, training, inspection, maintenance, compliance, scheduling, construction, operations, and emergency response/restoration of Transmission assets, projects, and/or work methods. Responsibilities

  • Leads all aspects of the preparation of construction documentation such as schedules, resource estimates, outage requests, accident and incident investigations, inspection plans and reports, and personnel evaluations
  • Conducts job walks and project updates on transmission construction projects with Foreman
  • Gathers information, analyzes data, and provides detailed recommendations on construction methods and strategies, long range schedules and/or training requirements
  • Collaborates with subordinates, peers, and management regarding daily work activities
  • Facilities the availability of resources, tools, vehicles, materials and other equipment and the training conducive to providing a safe working environment
  • Mentors Foreman, Patrolman and crew members, and continues the practical education and development of team exposing them to activities, tasks and duties that will enhance their skill level, as well as build upon those skills they already possess through crew assignments and scheduling of work
  • Interfaces, informs, negotiates, and resolve issues and disputes with groups such as engineering, customers, clients, substation maintenance and test personnel, operations, outside suppliers, agencies and/or IBEW
  • Performs frequent field visits and documenting safety information
  • Assures all safety bulletin/issues are understood and creates full compliance; assures periodic safety meetings are timely and of quality content
  • Verifies TCandM planning action accuracy and timely updates
  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Four or more years in the electrical industry performing or supervising in planning, design, construction, maintenance, standards & development, system operations, field operations, engineering, or construction project management.
  • Possess a valid Class C Driver's License.

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Experience with the application of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and the handling of Labor Relations and Employee Relations issues.
  • Experience with Transmission and/or Distribution electrical construction and wiring.
  • Experience Supervising field line construction crews.
  • Ability to interpret and perform inspections to specifications and drawings.
  • Experience with environmental compliance, safe work practices, construction/ maintenance methods, techniques, tools, and equipment.
  • Experience in O&M accounting, including timekeeping and completion of work order packages.
  • Experience in Transmission & Distribution standards, Operations Manuals, and the Accident Prevention Manual safety rules.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office and SAP applications.

 

 

Additional Information 

 

  • This position’s work mode is on-site. The employee will report to an SCE facility or in the field location.  Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.

  • The primary work location for this position is Metro West Transmission / Dominguez Hills Service Center. However, the successful candidate may also be asked to work for an extended amount of time in any other Transmission Grid/Region to support high priority planned or emergency restoration efforts.
  • Position will require up to 40% being out in the field which may include “out-of-town” supervision when crews are supporting work in other Transmission Grids AORs. 
  • This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation.  Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
  • Relocation does not apply to this position.
