Become a Data Governance Advisor at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you’ll lead the design and development of enterprise data governance, data quality, and automation solutions. This highly technical role combines coding, data engineering, analytics, and governance strategy to deliver scalable solutions that improve compliance, operational performance, and customer outcomes. You will develop automated monitoring tools, build data quality controls, create advanced reporting and analytics capabilities, and partner with business and IT to solve complex data challenges across the enterprise. As a trusted technical advisor, you will influence governance strategy while establishing innovative approaches that enable reliable, high-quality data for critical business decisions.

 

Incident Management Team Expected Participation: Employees are expected to support emergency response and/or business continuity efforts, including readiness to serve on an Incident Management Team (IMT) when needed. Employees will participate in an on-call rotation (approximately every four to six weeks), to support IMT activations during emergency events. IMT assignments may differ from an individual’s regular responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Tracks and analyzes performance, providing feedback and recommendations on methods to improve quality. Drives quality assurance improvement plans and uses in-depth knowledge of best practices to implement improvements, facilitating continuous improvements by assessing process and product measures.
  • Oversees, participates in the design, development, and execution of and ensures data-related work is performed according to company policies and procedures.
  • Develops training curriculum and educates all levels of the organization in process and performance improvement methods and tools.
  • Provides support to strategy and policy development and ensures delivery within area of responsibility. Identifies opportunities for process enhancements across the organization and participates in process improvement initiatives.
  • Evaluates best practices of data gathering, record maintenance and documentation within the industry, identifies compliance risks and implements risk mitigation to enable innovative solutions.
  • Analyzes business processes, identifies alternative solutions to replace outdated processes and assesses their feasibility.
  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Seven or more years of experience in advanced data analytics, reporting and developing process improvement opportunities to ensure quality of processes.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience using SAP HANA, Snowflake, SQL Server, Python, or comparable data management and analytics platforms.
  • Experience developing SQL-based solutions, data models, reports, or automated monitoring capabilities.
  • Knowledge of data governance, data stewardship, data quality management, metadata management, and data lineage best practices.
  • Experience supporting regulatory, audit, risk management, or compliance-related data initiatives.
  • Utility, energy, or highly regulated industry experience.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts and data issues effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience leading complex cross-functional initiatives and collaborating with stakeholders to define business requirements, technical solutions, and implementation strategies.
  • Experience designing and implementing process improvements, automation solutions, and data quality controls.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate business requirements into scalable data solutions.

 

Additional Information 

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.  Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California.  Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
