In this job, you’ll focus on incident response, coordination with first responders, reporting and informing company operations, and enhancing first responder safety through presentations. You will utilize your specialized expertise, technical knowledge, and operational experience to analyze complex and dynamic situations with serious public safety consequences and make recommendations that drive decision-making and operations. Additionally, you will represent SCE during all hazard incidents, embedding in the incident management structure and serving as the SCE Agency Representative. Your role will involve coordinating SCE’s response to incidents by providing for the safety of first responders, the public and employees, providing information to manage the bulk power system, and safely gain access approvals for SCE crews to begin restoration work, You will maintain close working relationships with fire and emergency management agencies throughout the service territory and serve as a consultant and subject matter expert on wildfire risk management. As a Fire Management Advisor, your work will help power our planet, reduce carbon emissions and create cleaner air for everyone. Responsibilities

  • Monitors and responds to, mapping and reporting on all fires affecting or having the potential to affect SCE electric infrastructure and non-electric facilities.
  • Represents SCE during fire and other emergency incidents, typically by serving as a cooperator within the responding agency’s incident command system.
  • Coordinates SCE’s response to incidents such as providing information to manage the bulk power system, threat and damage assessment, system restoration, and providing for safe access for SCE personnel and equipment to conduct work.
  • Develops and maintains close working relationships with fire and emergency management agencies throughout the service territory.
  • Provides actionable and timely incident information to SCE leadership and organizations, including Grid Operations, Transmission, Distribution, Generation, Telecom, Air Operations, Real Properties, Claims, and the SCE Watch Office.
  • Enhances first responder safety by effectively delivering “Electrical Safety for First Responders” awareness presentations to first responders and SCE employees throughout the SCE territory.
  • Provides support to the Business Resiliency organization by assisting/leading projects or programs such as EOC coverage, Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) program support and others as assigned.
  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.
     

Minimum Qualifications

  • Seven or more years of experience responding to emergencies/incidents for a public agency, utility, or first responder organization.
  • Four years of experience as a journeyman lineman/apprentice lineman in the powerline trade.
  • One year of experience as a paid or volunteer firefighter.
  • Valid Class C California driver’s license.
     

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
  • Experience serving as an Agency Representative (AREP) interacting with emergency response agencies
  • Demonstrated experience training employees, first responders, and/or the public in electrical system operations and safety
  • Experience and education/knowledge in wildland firefighting
  • Incident Command System (ICS) Certifications (e.g., IC, OSC, PSC, LOFR, SOF, and Agency Representative)
  • ESRI ArcGIS mapping experience
  • Experience in Aircraft Operations

 

Additional Information 

 

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.  Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California.  Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs
