Become a On The Job Training Strategy, Governance and Enablement Advisor at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this role, you will lead the development, implementation, governance, sustainment, and expansion of structured on-the-job training (OJT) across SCE’s technical workforce. You will partner with operational leaders, technical training organizations, instructional designers, subject-matter experts, mentors, and technology teams to translate workforce and operational requirements into scalable OJT strategies and performance-based learning solutions.

 

The successful candidate will bring extensive experience in OJT, technical workforce development, Job Instruction, operational training, and continuous improvement. This individual will help establish consistent OJT frameworks, mentor and leader enablement, digital learning and performance-support tools, program-health reporting, and sustainable governance practices. The role will also guide business areas as they adopt and scale OJT while maintaining alignment with common learning standards and long-term workforce-readiness objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the optimization of ongoing technical training programs for the enterprise.
  • Provides leadership and technical direction to team members to ensure project activities and timelines are met and training materials are delivered in a timely manner.
  • Delivers complex instruction and training, and demonstrative interaction across multiple levels of leadership.
  • Improves technical training strategies and recommends effective training materials and curriculum priorities in order to produce successful training outcomes.
  • Applies subject matter expertise to review and create a technical training curriculum that balances the needs of different functions.
  • Maintains knowledge of strategies and culture and integrates into training techniques, materials and tools across all levels.
  • Collaborates with senior level cross functional stakeholders to understand Operating Unit and/or enterprise challenges and priorities that can be incorporated into the learning experience.
  • Aligns with teams on training plan and leads development of events that are tailored to the group's needs and support the unit strategy.
  • Enhances analysis of program effectiveness and presents to Operating Unit or enterprise leaders with results. Develops formal documentation of training programs, curriculum, and outcome objectives.
  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Seven or more years of experience leading and implementing learning initiatives.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Seven or more years of experience leading OJT strategy, technical training, apprenticeship, qualification, or workforce-development initiatives.
  • Five or more years of experience designing, implementing, governing, or sustaining structured OJT programs within a technical, operational, manufacturing, construction, military, energy, or safety-sensitive environment.
  • Five or more years of experience developing scalable OJT frameworks, processes, standards, or governance models that define ownership, roles, milestones, escalation paths, and program controls.
  • Three or more years of experience applying Training Within Industry Job Instruction, structured coaching, guided practice, mentor development, or a comparable workplace-learning methodology.
  • Experience leading three or more OJT, technical-training, qualification, or workforce-readiness initiatives from analysis through implementation and sustainment.
  • Five or more years of experience partnering with field leaders, technical employees, instructors, instructional designers, mentors, and subject-matter experts to improve workforce performance.
  • Three or more years of experience with learning-management or digital-training systems, such as SAP SuccessFactors, electronic OJT tracking, digital qualification records, or comparable platforms.
  • Experience scaling an OJT or technical-training framework across at least two roles, programs, locations, or operating organizations while maintaining consistent standards and appropriate business ownership.

Additional Information 

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.  Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California.  Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
