In this job, you’ll manage a team of high-performing professionals, working together to lead and sustain the organizational readiness that makes Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) operations effective, resilient and compliant when communities need us the most. Through role-specific training, readiness exercises, updated processes and procedures, and close work with Districts, Grids and Grid Operations, your team turns preparation into performance. Together, you'll make sure SCE can carry out PSPS events with confidence, whatever their size or complexity.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises a team of exempt employees responsible for real-time and planned grid operations, ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant execution of work.
  • Allocates staffing and resources to meet operational demands, project timelines, and regulatory requirements, adjusting plans as needed to maintain performance.
  • Provides guidance on complex operational assignments and system challenges, intervening in daily operations when necessary to resolve issues or meet critical deadlines.
  • Develops and implements procedures to address abnormal system conditions, capital project impacts, and emerging grid reliability concerns.
  • Ensures operational practices and documentation are aligned with WECC, NERC, FERC, CAISO, and CPUC standards, and lead efforts to prepare for audits and maintain compliance.
  • Represents Power System Operations in internal and external forums, contributing to discussions on technology, system reliability, and strategic initiatives.
  • Recommends updates to policies and procedures that improve consistency in specialized installations such as TLRR, BESS, and RAS/CRAS.
  • Monitors team performance and system data to make informed decisions that impact work group outcomes, ensuring timely and cost-effective solutions.
  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Five or more years of combined experience performing or supervising electric system operations.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in emergency management, PSPS or utility wildfire mitigation operations.
  • Working knowledge of the Incident Command System (ICS), with experience in Incident Management Team (IMT) roles.
  • Leader and/or oversight experience in distribution, transmission, or grid operations.
  • Experience writing and maintaining procedures, playbooks or controlled documents.

 

 

Additional Information 

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.  Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California.  Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.

  • Position will require up to 25% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory. 
  • This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation.  Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
  • Relocation does not apply to this position.
