Become a Privacy Compliance Advisor at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you'll serve as the customer data privacy subject matter expert for SCE’s Customer Service (CS) organization. With the evolving and complex landscape of customer privacy, SCE must fully understand and manage the ongoing demand from customers and third parties for confidential and personal customer data with associated risks. As an advisor, you will lead and provide guidance across SCE, whether as part of projects or in response to ad-hoc privacy incidents related to the collection, storage, and sharing of customer data. You will provide expert advice on privacy regulations (e.g., CCPA/CPRA, TCPA, CAN-SPAM among others), Personal Information (PI), Personally Identifiable Information (PII) data processing, data sharing systems, authorization, and authentication processes.  This includes developing and supporting the implementation of the privacy related projects. As Privacy Compliance Advisor, your work will help power our planet, reduce carbon emissions and create cleaner air for everyone. Responsibilities

  • Leads the development of privacy policies and procedures, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring third-party compliance
  • Implements policy, standards, compliance, and evaluation activities related to privacy throughout the organization
  • Oversees the development of corrective action plans relating to data compliance issues
  • Conducts privacy impact evaluations and subsequent compliance activities for the organization's activities related to consumer data and enterprise projects
  • Ensures compliance with privacy policies, standards, notices, and relevant data privacy laws and ensures procedures are adequately communicated
  • Monitors ongoing and future rules on privacy and tracks the company's compliance with them
  • Maintains company-wide risk assessment procedures and ensures that risks are adequately documented, evaluated, rated, and reported in the risk management software
  • Prepares audit findings for management and determines opportunities that enhance the productivity of key controls
  • Pinpoints problems with risk control and adverse trends and reports them internally by identifying critical metrics in the risk management software
  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Seven or more years of experience in information governance, data management, and/or compliance.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two or more years of experience working with TCPA, CAN-SPAM, CCPA/CPRA, and other data privacy laws.

  • Two or more years of project management experience, including Project Management Professional (PMP) credentials or other relevant industry certifications.

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in business or a related field.

  • Experience in contract management.

  • Experience in the energy/utility industry.

  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information, proposals, and recommendations to general, business, or management audiences.

  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Project, and Visio.

 

Additional Information 

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.  Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California.  Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
