Become a Senior Advisor, Strategic Planning within Southern California Edison’s Customer Solutions organization and help shape the future of California’s clean energy programs. In this role, you’ll create strategy across SCE’s portfolio of customer programs—including Demand Flexibility, Transportation Electrification (including V2G), Demand Response, Customer Generation, Building Electrification, and Energy Efficiency. You’ll help translate long‑term vision into integrated, actionable portfolio direction by connecting grid and customer objectives, market intelligence, and regulatory dynamics to inform our priorities and upcoming program applications that advance SCE’s 2045 clean energy goals.

 

This is a high‑impact advisory role on a small, highly visible team. You’ll work closely with senior leaders, Directors, regulators, and external partners to tackle complex questions, develop executive‑ready insights, and advance strategic initiatives in a regulated environment. The role is ideal for someone who enjoys thinking through hard problems, can synthesize information quickly, and wants their ideas to influence decisions that matter.

 

Who This Role Is For

 

There’s no single “ideal” background for this role. We’re open to candidates with deep expertise in one or more customer program areas, as well as strategy generalists—such as consultants or internal strategists—with experience in utilities, energy, or regulated environments.

 

What matters most is how you think and how you work. Successful candidates are curious, resourceful problem‑solvers who can learn new topics quickly, synthesize data into clear insights, communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, and exercise sound judgment in ambiguity. Strong presentation skills are a must and comfort with light analytical or Excel‑based work are helpful. This role is well suited for someone who can take on whatever comes next and figure it out.

 

Responsibilities

  • Supports the development of critical regulatory and legislative initiatives to facilitate the execution of the strategic plan.
  • Identifies system risks and evaluates risk reduction benefits of proposed mitigation strategy projects in the capital investment strategy.
  • Leads the development and management of Protection and Control Asset strategies for programmatic investment decisions.
  • Evaluates SCE's enterprise level risks and provides suitable mitigation options to senior management.
  • Provides strategic and regulatory analysis for the company, specifically including competitive positioning, price forecasting, financial analytics, and regulatory planning scenario evaluations.
  • Provides analyses, evaluation and management recommendations on key strategic initiatives.
  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ten or more years of experience in strategic planning, setting strategies at the department or organization level.

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Experience in one or more customer program areas such as demand flexibility, demand response, vehicle grid integration, V2G, load management, or grid‑edge technologies
  • Experience in strategy, management consulting, strategic planning, or portfolio strategy, ideally in complex or regulated environments
  • Familiarity with utilities, energy markets, or California energy policy, including exposure to agencies such as the CPUC or CEC
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct market or policy research, synthesize insights, and communicate recommendations to senior leaders
  • Strong executive‑ready communication skills, including clear writing and presentation development
  • Comfort working in ambiguous, cross‑functional settings, with the judgment to balance creativity and rigor
  • Proficiency with light analytical work (e.g., Excel‑based analysis or modeling) to support strategic thinking

 

Additional Information

 

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.  Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California.  Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
