Become a Compliance Engineer 2 at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you’ll work closely with Technical Subject Matter Experts to support NERC Standards–related projects, coordinating across engineering, operations, and compliance teams to deliver regulatory‑aligned outcomes. You’ll execute project tasks in accordance with established policies, analyze data to support compliance deliverables, and collaborate cross‑functionally to monitor GCC reports, reconcile data, and validate regulatory evidence. You’ll also support SCE’s compliance programs through audit participation, coordination with neighboring utilities and regulatory bodies, Transmission Register management, annual UFLS reporting, and internal compliance initiatives. This position offers growth and exposure to nationwide compliance forums.

Responsibilities
- Performs inspections and evaluations of existing conditions for various electrical equipment and systems for proper installation, problem identification/ trouble shooting, and overall improvements.
- Ensures system event assessments and RCA are performed for equipment failures and implements corrective actions, confirming proper mitigation plans are in place.
- Prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and design plans related to projects and analysis of increasing scope and complexity.
- Conducts independent engineering work, receiving guidance on the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
- Performs power system modeling and analyses utilizing software tools and applications; stays informed of technology advancements, market trends, and relevant guidelines and standards related to energy technology.
- Ensures the performance of day-to-day preventive maintenance activities to maintain equipment and ensure continued operation according to required standards including Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) quality and environmental and reliability standards.
- Helps ensure infrastructure’s supporting processes are validated/qualified throughout their life cycle.
- Develops the engineering facility design, including but not limited to electrical system design, such as sizing, creating one-line diagrams, and selecting equipment.
- Assists in the development of new technology and standards strategy and the implementation of strategies into business operations to improve power system functionality and quality of service to customers.
- Acts as project sponsors with some technical assistance when responding to technical questions requiring project modification to move projects through their lifecycle.
- A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Bachelor's Degree in a scientific/technical/math field.
- Two or more years of experience performing engineering work in operations, production, construction or maintenance environments.
- Possess a valid Class C Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of NERC standards and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to develop a foundational understanding of Protection Engineering philosophy.
- Demonstrated ability to take ownership of technically complex tasks and drive them to completion.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize effectively in a fast‑paced environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Clear and effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across engineering, operations, and compliance organizations.
Additional Information
- This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
