Responsibilities
- Partners with the Workforce Strategy & Work Environment Sr. Advisor to interpret assessment findings (e.g., hotspots, systemic themes, site leadership gaps) and convert them into LR risk hypotheses, priorities, and action plans (owners, timelines, measures). .
- Maintains an organizing risk dashboard using leading indicators and qualitative intelligence provided by HRBPs/ER, the Workforce Strategy & Work Environment function, and operational leaders; validate risk themes and recommend mitigation options consistent with company values and legal requirements.
- Leads or coordinates site-specific mitigation plans that address root-cause drivers (e.g., leadership effectiveness, scheduling, safety climate, communications cadence) by aligning the right partners (Operations, HRBP, ER, Total Rewards, Safety, Communications) and tracking follow-through.
- Designs and delivers scalable manager training and toolkits on NLRA fundamentals, lawful communication (including TIPS/FOE guardrails), listening skills, and how to respond to organizing-related questions; provide just-in-time coaching for leaders in higher-risk sites.
- Activates a coordinated response approach when organizing activity is suspected (e.g., leafleting, meetings, card activity); clarify facts, align internal stakeholders, advise leaders on lawful do’s/don’ts, and implement accelerated mitigation and communications plans without creating ULP risk.
- Serves as LR campaign/project manager once a petition is filed: establish governance, timelines, roles, communication plans, leader cascades, and site activity tracking; coordinate with Legal, Communications, HR, and Operations to ensure consistency, compliance, and disciplined execution through the election.
- Leads the transition from campaign response to a post-election operating model: advise on lawful communications, support leader readiness, coordinate bargaining preparation activities (in partnership with designated LR/Legal leads), and help establish sustainable labor-management practices aligned with enterprise strategy.
- Creates repeatable playbooks, checklists, and after-action reviews to improve readiness and response; track outcomes (risk indicators, leader capability uptake, mitigation completion) and provide updates to senior leaders in partnership with the Workforce Strategy & Work Environment team.
- Provides labor relations advice and guidance to client groups as an LR Advisor and subject matter expert and potentially supporting or engaging in collective bargaining.
- A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.
Minimum Qualifications
- Ten or more years of experience in Labor Relations, HR Business Partner, or employment law-adjacent roles with demonstrated responsibility for organizing readiness, campaign support or enterprise labor strategy.
Preferred Qualifications
- Possess a J.D. Degree.
- Experience with National Labor Relations Act processes and jurisprudence
- Experience with Successful union avoidance campaigns
- Seven or more years as a labor relations advisor to all levels of leadership in highly matrixed and unionized organizations.
Additional Information
- This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
