In this role, you will play a pivotal part in shaping how SCE’s Transmission & Distribution organization plans, funds, and executes its operational work. You will be responsible for balancing affordability, reliability, and performance delivery by integrating Capital and O&M operating plans, ensuring financial and operational strategies are fully aligned to support a resilient, future-ready grid.

This is a unique opportunity to influence enterprise-level decisions, translate complex data into actionable strategies, and establish operating plans for billions of dollars in annual investments across Transmission & Distribution.

 

As a Senior Advisor, you will partner closely with Substation Leadership, Operational Finance, Resource Planning, and Subject Matter Experts to provide a clear and transparent view of the Substation Construction & Maintenance financial portfolio—from budgeting through forecasting. You will lead the development of operating plans, cost-per methodologies, and compliance tracking, while mentoring team members and fostering collaboration across departments.

 

The Senior Advisor plays a critical leadership role in guiding operational planning, cost analysis, and performance management across T&D. By ensuring alignment between financial strategy and operational execution, you will drive transparency, affordability, and resilience across the organization, strengthening SCE’s ability to deliver reliable energy and support California’s clean energy future.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains cost tracking tools and templates to facilitate consistent and efficient cost management practices across projects
  • Evaluates and implements cost management best practices and process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of cost engineering processes
  • Advises leadership on cost engineering methods and procedures and prepares developmental assignments for engineers
  • Leads the evaluation of the projects time, cost, and quality targets, applying governance controls to enable the successful delivery of the project
  • Provides input during project planning and design phases to optimize project cost-effectiveness, value engineering, and risk mitigation
  • Prepares specific budgets in accordance with prescribed standards and procedures
  • Facilitates internal and contractor compliance with all cost related requirements and contractual requirements
  • Ensures site project cost controls policies and procedures, consistent with department policies, are implemented and monitored throughout the duration of the project
  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ten or more years of experience with engineering cost controls, estimating, planning, and risk assessment for major construction projects.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in business, finance, engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Master’s degree or higher in business, finance, engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Seven or more years of experience in the Electric Utility industry.
  • Seven or more years of experience overseeing annual and long-term operational plan development for O&M, Capital, and Department Overhead (DOH) activities
  • Seven or more years of experience and expertise in developing and refining cost-per unit methodologies across Transmission & Distribution work activities and commodities, linking financial actuals to performance operations insights for planning and execution.
  • Experience and the ability to lead high-complexity cost reporting and variance analysis, including monthly budget/forecast reviews and ad-hoc performance analyses.
  • Seven or more years of experience and proficiency in data collection, transformation, and analysis using internal reporting systems, SAP, SAS, and Business Intelligence tools.
  • Experience and proven success facilitating senior executive meetings, presenting to executive leadership, and advising on risks, opportunities, and performance outcomes.
  • Seven or more years of experience mentoring and guiding staff, fostering professional growth and building high-performing teams.
  • Experience and familiarity with work breakdown structures, and jurisdictional cost allocations.
  • Experience with governance and project controls, including maintaining cost monitoring systems, ensuring accurate spend/volume tracking, and driving improvements in reporting and analysis.

 

 

Additional Information 

  • The position’s work mode is remote. Employee is able to work primarily at home or remote however, the employee may be expected to come to an SCE facility on occasion. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California. Hiring organizations can add further requirements related to specific jobs.
