Responsibilities

  • Ensures technical issues and problems are resolved in a timely, efficient and cost-effective manner utilizing available resources
  • Supervises, leads, and coordinates work with full time and contract employees in the execution of new technical strategies, equipment or standards.
  • Conducts life cycle assessments for utility infrastructure materials and processes; improves preventive maintenance procedures to decrease overall downtime
  • Conducts risk assessments and implements risk mitigation strategies to ensure the safety and reliability of engineering projects
  • Supports audits and inspections; ensures compliance with relevant environmental, health, and safety regulations
  • Provides engineering and technical expertise and guidance for the identification, analysis and resolution of high impact, complex and/or cross-functional problems in engineering
  • Ensures the engineering facility design basis is controlled and design basis documentation is maintained
  • Conducts engineering and related studies with full technical responsibility for planning and coordinating high-impact complex projects
  • Provides support and technical training to junior engineering levels
  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Bachelor's Degree in a scientific/technical/math field.
  • Five or more years of experience performing engineering work in operations, production, construction or maintenance environments.
  • Possess a valid Class C Driver's License.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Electrical, Civil, Software or other comparable engineering degrees.
  • Experience in establishing and managing equipment standards, which includes EV chargers, Switchgear, microgrid control systems to enable business resiliency. 
  • Strong Experience diagnosing why DC Chargers are offline and developing operational procedures to keep chargers at 98% or more online.
  • Experience with configuring charger management system to enable efficient fleet operations and peak load shifting to allow flexible circuit interconnections.
  • Experience evaluating emerging EV charging technologies, such as advanced DCFC systems, high-power charging solutions, modular storage integration, and bidirectional charging.
  • Experience participating in design reviews to ensure charger placement, equipment selection, and electrical infrastructure to support fleet operational requirements.
  • Experienced with business resiliency planning for fleet charging, including portable or temporary charging deployments (e.g., RESS units, skid-mounted chargers, mobile trailers).
  • Strong understanding of DERMS and DER communications/protocols (2030.5, DNP3, Modbus,etc).
  • Strong experience with developing control system logic using energy storage, solar and generators.
  • Familiarity with ISO15118-2,20, IEEE 2030.5 CSIP, SCE Rule 21, UL3141 and inverter-based resource management.
  • Experience supporting pilot projects, demonstrations, and proof-of-concept evaluations.

 

 

Additional Information

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.  Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California.  Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.

  • Position will require up to 50% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory. 
  • This position has an option for a 9/80 Alternate Work Schedule or 40hrs/5 days a week.
