Join Southern California Edison (SCE) as a GIS Technical Senior Specialist and help build a better tomorrow. In this role, you’ll be part of the Geospatial Analysis and Data Integrity group within our Transmission & Distribution Business Unit. You’ll be responsible for identifying, documenting, and resolving complex issues related to the management of geospatial data in SCE’s comprehensive Geographic Information System (cGIS).
Your key responsibilities will include performing in-depth analysis of geospatial asset data, providing technical direction to team members, and supporting accurate and efficient data management for cGIS. You’ll also lead initiatives and projects, offer consulting support, and recommend process and productivity improvements. Responsibilities
- Performs in-depth analyses, approves, develops recommendations, and creates scripts, tools or models where appropriate to enhance data flow and analysis
- Leads data remediation efforts including analysis, quality control, and performs or coordinates the asset updates to ensure data is accurate and aligns with actual field conditions
- Identifies industry trends and maintains relationships with relevant stakeholders and provides consultative services on an as-needed basis to address complex GIS problems/issues
- Designs, develops and implements procedures to improve efficiency of operations and processes associated with mapping standards and GIS tools
- Utilizes geospatial software to process, analyze, and model geospatial data to improve processes and data quality
- Collaborates with internal/external business partners to evaluate impacts on departmental activities that rely on GIS data or processes
- Conducts land, regulatory, and related project searches, including identification of new data sources helping identify industry trends and maintain relationships with relevant stakeholders
- Produces high-quality map products for presentations, meetings, public usage and departments; creating key business maps and producing ad-hoc or on-off maps
- Provide functional direction, guidance, and training to staff members to ensure conformance to departmental standards and procedures
- A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.
Minimum Qualifications
- Five or more years of experience in GIS and analyzing mapping data.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Environmental Science, Computer Science with an emphasis in GIS, or related field.
- Specialized CAD or GIS certification.
- Experience with AutoDesk Map 3D 2016 (cGIS), ESRI ArcGIS 10.0, Oracle Spatial or other GIS software.
- Five years’ experience interpreting complex work order and designs (i.e. Distribution, Bulk Transmission, Sub Transmission).
- Experience using business applications to create and edit complex reports, graphs, and presentations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills including an ability to represent the organization and collaborate with internal and external business partners.
- Knowledge and or experience with electrical theory.
- Two or more years of experience with Microsoft Excel performing advanced functions such as VLOOKUP’s, pivot tables, filtering/sorting, charts and graphing.
- Experience in Geodatabase Design, cartographic standards, and usage of peripherals such as plotters, digitizers, and scanners.
Additional Information
- This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
