Become a GIS Technical Specifications, Senior Manager at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow.   In this job, you’ll oversee and sustain current business operations, including E2 asset record corrections, data remediation goals, CPUC compliance, Master Data Governance goals, streetlight inventory and other emergent data remediation efforts.  You will manage a team of 5 Senior Supervisors and 3 Advisors responsible for SAP Technical Specialists, Mapping Technicians and QA/Process Improvement Specialists.  Your core operations are centered around asset data accuracy and directly impacts Safety, Compliance, Grid Resiliency & Reliability, and Customer Satisfaction. 

Focus of Role:
  • Strategic Leadership & Organizational Development: Set the vision and strategic direction for data quality and asset accuracy initiatives, while developing leadership capabilities, building team capacity, and fostering a high-performance culture across a multi-layered organization.
  • Operational Excellence & Data Quality:  Oversee enterprise data remediation efforts and asset data accuracy programs that directly impact safety, regulatory compliance (CPUC), grid reliability, and customer satisfaction.
  • Cross-Functional Influence & Enterprise Collaboration: Partner with senior leaders across Geomatics, T&D, and other business units to drive alignment on priorities, influence decision-making, and deliver complex, enterprise-wide initiatives (including NextGen).
  • Continuous Improvement & Root Cause Analysis: Champion continuous improvement by identifying process inefficiencies, sponsoring root cause analysis, and implementing sustainable solutions to enhance data quality and operational performance.
  • Resource & Program Management: Manage resources, budgets, and priorities to effectively deliver against strategic objectives, ensuring teams are positioned to execute on both ongoing operations and emerging initiatives.
  • Standards, Governance & Capability Building: Strengthen data governance practices by advancing training programs, standard operating procedures, quality controls, and community of practice initiatives to ensure consistency and scalability.
  • People Leadership & Culture: Lead and develop a team of senior supervisors and advisors, driving performance management, talent development, and a collaborative, inclusive work environment grounded in integrity, accountability, and strong communication.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the design and development of technology solutions to drive business process efficiencies. Oversees and monitors the budget for team, including projects, training, and resource planning.
  • Oversees the development, maintenance and implementation of policies and procedures that ensure accurate enterprise asset data.
  • Manages data maintenance activities such as geospatial and attribute data creation, data validation and database reviews, overseeing the creation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for various tasks to streamline future work.
  • Identifies, troubleshoots and resolves personnel issues.
  • Oversees the design and implementation of performance dashboards in order to monitor in-house metrics.
  • Leads the development of business goals and objectives in alignment with overall SCE strategies and roadmaps.
  • Identifies and drives continuous improvement by evaluating opportunities including artificial intelligence/machine learning, statistical, or algorithms to provide quality service and products.
  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Five or more years of experience supervising a team of direct reports and/or project management.
  • Experience in GIS and/or analyzing data.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three or more years of experience in the electric utility industry.
  • Bachelor’s or higher in Business, GIS specialization or other related discipline.
  • One or more certifications: Project Management Professional (PMP), Lean Six Sigma, or related project management / lean certifications.
  • Experience with SAP, MDG, or other data intelligence tools.
  • Experience in reporting, analytics, and cost analysis.
  • Experience working with clients, including independently identifying client needs, developing action plans, identifying deliverables and presenting results.
  • Experience with identifying process deficiencies and root causes and developing/implementing action plans to ensure problems are addressed.
  • Experience implementing and enhancing technology tools, strategies, and continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Experience with effective resource and project planning, decision making, results delivery, team building, and the ability to stay current with relevant technology and innovation.

 

 

Additional Information 

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.  Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California.  Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
