Responsibilities

  • Monitors market trends, vendor, industry group and competitor activities to identify opportunities for differentiation and innovation in engineering solutions
  • Develops and maintains asset management plans for utility infrastructure, proactively identifying future system upgrades and contributing to the formulation of departmental and organizational business plans and grid strategies
  • Collaborates with regulatory affairs teams to ensure compliance with local, state, national, and international regulations governing energy engineering projects
  • Identifies areas for process improvement and implements strategies to enhance engineering efficiency and productivity
  • Deploys improvement initiatives and tracks progress using relevant metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness of the continuous improvement efforts
  • Addresses any performance issues promptly and creates improvement plans when necessary
  • Plans, designs and oversees the infrastructure of power distribution systems, ensuring compliance with environmental and regulatory standards
  • Coordinates and prioritizes activities within the team to ensure efficient project execution; aids in managing resources and budget activities to achieve strict compliance with the company's guidelines
  • Evaluates and recommends investments in infrastructure, equipment, and technology to support the long-term growth and competitiveness of the engineering department
  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Bachelor's Degree in a scientific/technical/math field.
  • Ten or more years of experience performing engineering work in operations, production, construction or maintenance environments.
  • Possess a valid Class C Driver's License.

 

 

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
  • 10+ years of engineering experience in electric utility operations, with demonstrated expertise in:
    • Distribution Automation technologies and schemes, including fault location, isolation, and service restoration (FLISR), remote switching, and adaptive control systems
    • Protection and control systems, such as relay coordination, IEC 61850 architectures
    • Sensor technologies, applications, and deployment strategy
    • Grid flexibility solutions, encompassing distributed energy resources (DERs), microgrids, and integration with ADMS and AMI system
    • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute enterprise-level roadmaps aligned with long-term grid transformation strategies and clean energy goals.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and collaborating with internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts and deliver technical presentations to both a technical and non-technical audience, including external settings.
  • Work effectively in areas where processes are not clearly defined, self-starter.
  • Stay current with relevant technology and innovation.
  • Strong ethics, influence and negotiation, leadership, interpersonal skills, communication, and effectively manage stress and engage in continuous learning.

 

 

Additional Information

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.  Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California.  Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
