In this job, you’ll be part of the Integrated Major Project Development team responsible for sponsoring major transmission and substation projects and leading different aspects of technical/engineering efforts such as developing scope, schedule and costs, while looking for synergies and opportunities for project cross-cutting to maximize value. Coordinating and performing technical analyses for multiple voltage level projects, you’ll drive multiple aspects during project lifecycle to streamline and optimize SCE resources. Responsibilities

  • Ensures technical issues and problems are resolved in a timely, efficient and cost-effective manner utilizing available resources
  • Supervises, leads, and coordinates work with full time and contract employees in the execution of new technical strategies, equipment or standards.
  • Conducts life cycle assessments for utility infrastructure materials and processes; improves preventive maintenance procedures to decrease overall downtime
  • Conducts risk assessments and implements risk mitigation strategies to ensure the safety and reliability of engineering projects
  • Supports audits and inspections; ensures compliance with relevant environmental, health, and safety regulations
  • Provides engineering and technical expertise and guidance for the identification, analysis and resolution of high impact, complex and/or cross-functional problems in engineering
  • Ensures the engineering facility design basis is controlled and design basis documentation is maintained
  • Conducts engineering and related studies with full technical responsibility for planning and coordinating high-impact complex projects
  • Provides support and technical training to junior engineering levels
  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Bachelor's Degree in a scientific/technical/math field.
  • Five or more years of experience performing engineering work in operations, production, construction or maintenance environments.
  • Possess a valid Class C Driver's License.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing and delivering technical presentations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Knowledge collaborating with regional transmission organizations (e.g., CAISO, ERCOT), regulatory agencies (e.g., FERC, NERC, CPUC).
  • Experience supporting the development of testimony for regulatory proceedings and environmental licensing.
  • Engineering experience related to modeling and performing power system analyses on transmission systems or distribution systems (i.e., 33 kV up to 500 kV).
  • Experience in utility industry, with a focus in transmission and distribution planning, grid interconnection, power system infrastructure related to substations and/or design of those facilities.
  • Experience in project management, including strategic planning, budgeting, and execution of large-scale projects.

 

 

Additional Information

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.  Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California.  Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.

  • Position will require up to 10% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory. 
  • This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation.  Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
