This role focuses on water chemistry testing using established procedures and analytical instrumentation, data recording, and communication of results to operations.

Responsibilities

  • Collect water and process samples from designated plant locations and perform laboratory analyses using established procedures
  • Conduct wet lab testing utilizing instrumentation such as pH, conductivity, turbidity, ORP, spectrophotometers, and ion chromatography
  • Prepare samples, reagents, and laboratory equipment for routine testing and chemical investigations
  • Record test results, perform required calculations, and enter data into computerized tracking systems
  • Interpret analytical results and communicate findings to operations personnel to support chemical control decisions
  • Maintain laboratory cleanliness, files, summaries, and required documentation
  • Support special projects, research activities, and laboratory equipment evaluations as assigned

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge of basic principles of chemistry, including related physics and mathematics
  • Ability to perform laboratory analyses with accuracy, precision, and good technique
  • Ability to perform required calculations and maintain accurate records
  • Aptitude for analytical laboratory work and ability to follow established procedures
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with operations and laboratory staff

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • One or more years of experience in an analytical laboratory environment
  • Completion of college-level general chemistry coursework
  • Experience with wet lab techniques and analytical instrumentation
  • Experience with data entry, reporting, and laboratory documentation
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • This position’s work mode is on-site. The employee will report to an SCE facility or in the field location.  Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.

  • This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation.  Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
  • Relocation does not apply to this position.
  • Testing This position requires testing and applicants who are identified to continue through the selection process will be invited to test via email. Reference our Information Guides for the following tests: (EEI TECH (Test #5107) and Laboratory Assistant Test  (2712)).  Candidates who have previously passed these assessment(s), in some cases, may not need to retest again for this position.
