Responsibilities
- Operate turbine/generators, mechanical and electrical auxiliaries, fuel systems, and other plant systems.
- Inspect and service large plant equipment including steam turbines, boilers, ash handling systems, lubricating systems, water chemistry, cooling towers, condensers, cooling systems, and water treatment systems.
- Determine the operating status of equipment from previous shift personnel, log entries, visual inspection of records and instruments, and local inspection of plant equipment.
- Perform routine chemical analysis of plant water and take corrective action to maintain prescribed limits.
- Maintain detailed logs of daily operations, recording unusual events and changes in operating status.
- Prepare reports and summaries of records related to plant operation and maintenance and perform incidental clerical duties as assigned.
- Perform periodic, preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance, including disassembly, repair, and assembly of plant equipment; replacing and adjusting packing; lubricating equipment; assisting Machinist Mechanics and/or IC&E Technicians in changing oil; troubleshooting malfunctions; and other safe maintenance tasks.
- Monitor equipment for proper operation and make necessary adjustments.
- Diagnose and report/record equipment problems and correct if possible. Write maintenance orders for issues that cannot be easily corrected.
- Occasionally perform heavy physical work, climb ladders or stairways, and use senses to determine operating conditions.
- Maintain a safe environment for personnel and equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 1-5 years’ experience in operation or maintenance of a power plant or industrial facility.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
