In this job, you’ll support the entire Settlements team which includes three sub-groups: CAISO Settlements, Contract Settlements (CS), and Settlement Development Support (SDS). The role will serve as an integral part of Settlements’ mission to not only ensure there is an integrated approach to how we settle contracts but also to how we partner and engage with our key stakeholders. Additionally, this role will play an integral part of our future as we look to identify and formalize even more collaboration opportunities amongst the three teams while at the same time continuing to develop the skillset needed to have a more flexible workforce that can meet evolving demands. Responsibilities

  • Provides analytical support to ensure contract compliance and supports regulatory proceedings, including generating ad hoc queries for the preparation of required regulatory compliance filings, reports, and internal/external data requests including all appropriate documentation.
  • Provides support in the settlement of all power purchase agreements including providing resources for resolution of disputes, interacting with Contract Managers to obtain concurrence of contractual interpretations, establishing recommendations and conclusions based on analysis of complex data and monitoring and providing technical direction to aid in settling dispute.
  • Establishes procedures to streamline communication with Sales, external customers, and other market- facing groups.
  • Performs analysis and calculations of settlement charges assessed by CAISO over a portfolio of utility owned generation, power purchase agreements, and demand response resources.
  • Analyzes forecasting errors and trends, and proposes, vets, and implements load and generation bidding strategies.
  • Oversees the transaction system administration and payment-related user developed applications development and maintenance.
  • Assists with analyzing and improving the settlements process, including designing metrics for measuring group performance.
  • Establishes and recommends conclusions based on analysis of complex data and monitoring and providing technical direction to aid in settling disputes.
  • Provides support to the group responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payment of a diverse portfolio of contracts complex in structure.
  • Ensures the accurate settlements and allocation of charges to the company energy portfolio and contractual counterparties.
  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Seven or more years of experience in contract settlements, contract management, or electricity trading/marketing.
  • Experience in data requirements and developing dashboards for energy markets/procurement.

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Power BI.
  • Experience in identifying and leading continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Experience with generative AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot, automation tools such as Power Automation and UI Path, or any other tools utilized to drive efficiencies.  
  • Experience using commodities management platforms including ENDUR, SEETLECORE, or other similar types of systems
  • Experience working in the utility industry
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to prepare reports and present complex technical information to a wide audience, in non-technical language.
  • Strong ethics, influence and negotiation, leadership, initiative, and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to effectively muti-task and enthusiastically engage in continuous learning

 

Additional Information 

 

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.  Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California.  Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
