Become a Senior Manager on the Portfolio Reporting Team within Energy Procurement & Management at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. SCE’s Energy Procurement & Management (EPM) organization is responsible for developing SCE’s multi-billion-dollar energy resource portfolio, with a particular emphasis on non-GHG emitting resources in furtherance of SCE’s clean energy commitment. The Portfolio Reporting team assists that effort through reporting and analysis of SCE’s energy, capacity, and GHG positions.

 

In this job, your primary function will lead the Portfolio Reporting team in the creation of reports for internal use and for regulatory filing requirements, lead the team on their coordination on the state of SCE’s generation and capacity portfolio with Contract Origination and Contract Management, lead the development of an automated portfolio reporting system, and lead the analysis of SCE procurement strategy that drives towards reliability and affordability.

Responsibilities

  • Directs major energy procurement activities including development of contract evaluation framework, NPV analysis of offers, development of portfolio selection tools, and preparation of advice letters and testimony in support of cost recovery for energy procurement activities.
  • Leads efforts in coordinating with various commercial and operational teams to design resource adequacy program, ensuring compliance requirements are met and providing input on strategies to optimize the portfolio.
  • Manages the deployment and refinement of analytical models and grid planning simulation tools, ensuring optimal resource portfolios are developed, and their impacts on system pricing, GHG emissions, and other market dimensions are accurately forecasted.
  • Oversees SCE's strategic engagement with state agencies, ensuring the company's actions align with regulatory demands and effectively address California's energy and reliability needs.
  • Provides strategic oversight on the research of new technologies, champions the adoption of cost-effective solutions, and measures the impact on supply and demand-side energy resources.
  • Empowers contract origination's solicitation efforts to meet RA, Energy, IRP, etc procurement needs/goals.
  • Oversees the delivery of Renewable Portfolio Standard and other regulatory filings, directs the development of Joint IOU's proposal, and initiates interactions with internal and external parties to advance SCE's positions.
  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Five or more years of experience supervising a team of direct reports and/or project management
  • Experience leading trading initiatives in energy markets or supporting energy regulatory proceedings.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher, in Business, Economics, Finance, Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Proven ability to lead analysis of complex financial, regulatory, and business issues and translate insights into strategic decisions.
  • Experience leading the development of automation and/or modeling tools.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the CPUC’s Resource Adequacy and Renewable Portfolio Standard programs.
  • Experience developing and executing strategies in complex, multi stakeholder, and competitive environments. 
  • Demonstrated people leadership, including managing professional staff, setting performance expectations, and developing talent.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to executive, regulatory, and cross functional audiences.
  • Strong judgment, ethics, leadership presence, and the ability to influence outcomes while managing risk and operating effectively under pressure. 

 

 

Additional Information 

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.  Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California.  Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
