Become a Power Origination Senior Manager at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you will be responsible for providing strategic leadership in developing SCE’s multi-billion dollar energy resource portfolio, with a particular emphasis on non-GHG emitting resources in furtherance of SCE’s clean energy commitment.  You will lead a team responsible for the procurement of energy resources and provide leadership and oversight in many aspects of the deal-making process, including the solicitation process, selection and negotiations.  You will also be responsible for leading Origination’s regulatory procurement strategy in various proceedings.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the execution of procurement strategies, ensuring alignment with departmental goals, regulatory requirements and broader business objectives.
  • Guides the structuring of commercial deals, balancing risk, viability, and customer needs to support objectives.
  • Establishes work plans, staffing needs, and performance standards to support origination efforts across solicitations, bilateral deals, and PPA negotiations.
  • Oversees the development and execution of pricing strategies, bid evaluations, and contract structures to optimize portfolio performance.
  • Provides guidance to subordinate managers and staff on complex transactions, risk mitigation, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Resolves complex issues when necessary to maintain progress on critical deliverables and mitigate risks.
  • Administers departmental budgets and performance standards, ensuring cost-effective execution of marketing initiatives and adherence to timelines.
  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Five or more years of experience supervising a team of direct reports and/or project management.
  • Experience negotiating and managing energy contracts such as renewables, energy storage, conventional power, or combined heat and power. 

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher, in Business, Economics, Finance, Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Demonstrated leadership in negotiating complex structured contracts and leading cross-functional project teams in complex solicitations.
  • Proven ability to lead analysis of complex financial, regulatory, and business issues and translate insights into strategic decisions.
  • Experience developing and executing strategies in complex, multi stakeholder, and competitive environments.
  • Demonstrated people leadership, including managing professional staff, setting performance expectations, and developing talent.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to executive, regulatory, and cross functional audiences.
  • Strong judgment, ethics, leadership presence, and the ability to influence outcomes while managing risk and operating effectively under pressure.

 

 

Additional Information 

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.  Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California.  Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
