In this role, you’ll lead a team that is responsible for all non-nuclear assets in the Southern California Edison (SCE) portfolio. The asset management team provides plant engineering, asset optimization, work management, and asset management functions for over 1300 MW of thermal, 1000+ MW of hydro, and 500+ MW of battery storage facilities. This team ensures maximum value from the Generation portfolio by optimizing maintenance, upgrades, and operation across all Generation assets.  Your work will help power our planet, reduce carbon emissions and create cleaner air for everyone.

Responsibilities

  • Leads efforts to drive innovative grid policy, architecture and technology roadmap development and implementation under aggressive deadlines to transform how the grid is planned, designed, operated and maintained to operationalize company's strategy. Responsible for annual strategies for ~$1 billion annually
  • Reviews and approves large impactful engineering processes and standards to ensure efficiency and quality, utilizing a variety of strategies and ensures appropriate resources are dedicated to the successful implementation of cutting-edge technologies
  • Documents goals, communicates direction, and delegates initiatives that design, development, and implementation of engineering projects in alignment with organizational goals and industry standards
  • Prepares testimony and may be a witness in GRC proceedings on behalf of SCE
  • Leads the development and execution of long-term strategic plans for the engineering department, aligning with the overall business strategy and objectives and key maintenance and engineering objectives
  • Develops and maintains KPIs to measure and track engineering department performance and project success
  • Ensures appropriate support is provided to the implementation of engineering standards, procedures, and best practices to optimize project outcomes
  • Develops and manages the engineering department budget, ensuring resources are allocated effectively to meet project needs and financial targets
  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Seven or more years of experience supervising a team of direct reports and/or project management.
  • Experience performing engineering work in operations, production, construction or maintenance environments.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Master's degree in Business Administration
  • California P.E License
  • Experience managing a portfolio of capital projects including risk ranking and project governance
  • Experience leading asset engineers to evaluate and optimize asset value
  • Experience leading and developing multi-year strategy at an OU level to improve performance and/or reduce costs
  • Experience with market operation and dynamics for energy and capacity
  • Experience with function and operation of thermal, hydro, and battery storage facilities  

 

 

Additional Information 

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.  Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California.  Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
