Become a Project Controls - Project Cost Advisor at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this role, you’ll provide project controls, cost management, and financial reporting support for Generation MP&E and Field Run capital projects. You will ensure projects are monitored, reported, and governed in accordance with SCE Project Controls Procedures, supporting executive decision‑making and regulatory compliance.

Key Focus Areas

  • Maintain project performance data in 360PI, including project setup, workflow stages and track project expenditures across MP&E and Field portfolios. 
  • Execute month‑end financial processes by pulling SAP/BEX actuals, reconciling year‑to‑date financials, and validating system alignment. 
  • Prepare Generation capital financial reports, including variance snapshots and Waterfall GEN reports. 
  • Facilitate Quad Meetings and support Project Governance reviews for projects out of compliance. 
  • Supports project controls by monitoring cost compliance, managing change tracking, coordinating forecast reporting, delivering executive insights, and driving continuous improvement in processes and data integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures the development and maintenance of accurate project cost reports which support tracking of project budgets.
  • Monitors market trends and fluctuations in material and labor costs to anticipate potential impacts on project budgets and schedules.
  • Advises management when forecasted costs are either overrun or underrun as compared to the approved budget.
  • Interfaces with multiple operating facilities to review and discuss project scope and estimate basis, including visits to construction sites.
  • Monitors cost performance against realistic targets to ensure that objectives and key performance indicators are met.
  • Guides and influences contractors ensuring they are progressing in line with the schedule and within agreed cash flow parameters.
  • Stays up to date on industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies in cost engineering and construction management.
  • Performs trend analysis and actively evaluates project cost performance to identify potential risk areas and validate forecast.
  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Seven or more years of experience in engineering cost controls, estimating, planning, and risk assessment for major construction projects.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Finance, Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Experience supporting project controls, cost management, or capital financial reporting for large project portfolios.
  • Experience with cost forecasting, variance analysis, and financial reconciliation.
  • Proficiency with project controls and financial systems (e.g., SAP, Excel, portfolio management tools).
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with working knowledge of accounting principles and financial practices.
  • Experience supporting regulated utility environments or large capital infrastructure portfolios.
  • Familiarity with SCE Generation reporting, governance processes, and project controls practices.
  • Experience preparing executive‑level financial, portfolio, and reporting deliverables.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross‑functionally with Project Managers, Accounting, and senior leadership.

 

Additional Information 

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.  Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California.  Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
