Become a Regulatory Senior Attorney at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you’ll be primarily responsible for advising internal client organizations regarding compliance with applicable federal, state, and local statutes, regulations and policies, and representing the Company in a lead counsel capacity before regulatory and enforcement agencies, including the California Public Utilities Commission. Additional responsibilities will include drafting and preparing regulatory filings, testimonies and reports and advocating Company business, policy, and legal positions at hearings; working with SCE personnel in other departments and external third parties to gather information pertaining to highly complex legal, technical, and/or sensitive issues; contributing to cross-functional or departmental projects and teams; and directing and managing outside counsel retained to support the company's legal needs.  The successful candidate will be part of a small team of attorneys assigned to a particular section of the Law Department with assigned matters to lead and work independently.  Prior experience in the utility or energy industry is not required and a civil litigation background makes for excellent transferrable skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Top academic credentials desired.
• Experience in the utility or energy industry is preferred, but not required.
• Experience interacting with federal, state, or local agencies or courts.
• Ability to independently handle proceedings as lead attorney in matters before regulatory agencies, such as the California Public Utilities Commission, or first chair-level court experience.
• Experience working with client organizations to develop and carry-out strategic initiatives, e.g., identification of factual and legal issues, development of prepared testimony, legal pleadings, discovery, witness preparation, cross-examination, oral argument, and legal briefs.
• Strategic problem solver with strong analytical ability to provide legal advice within a business context.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to simultaneously manage a variety of assignments, work quickly and effectively under deadlines, and prioritize activities and risk.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team including ability to promote positive collaboration within the legal team, with other Company personnel, and with outside counsel.

Additional Information 

• This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.  Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California.  Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
