Become a Technical Audits Senior Advisor at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. This position will be in the Operational Audits division within SCE’s Audit Services Department, reporting to the Technical Audits Senior Manager. In this job, you’ll work as an engagement lead and/or key consultant with executives and senior managers across the company to independently conduct or lead highly complex, sensitive, and/or specialized audits, investigations or special projects that have a major significance to the Company. You will meet regularly with Operating Unit Managers and Directors and develop audit reports with recommendations that influence executive and senior management decisions and/or reduce major corporate risk. You’ll makes decisions with regard to day-to-day audit engagement activities, including evaluate efficacy and efficiency, and operationalize control portfolio improvements.

 

This position provides significant input for briefing senior management regarding the system of internal controls, reliability of operating information, and compliance with CPUC requirements, including laws, regulations, and the corporate standards of conduct.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and executes complex operations and technical internal audits to evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls, accuracy of information reported and compliance with policies and procedures
  • Contributes to the development and update of risk assessment and audit plans to ensure all relevant key activities are identified, prioritized and audited as necessary
  • Plans complex audits by analyzing business processes and preparing risk assessments to determine the controls to be tested
  • Identifies solutions to address audit findings, opportunities for control improvements with the objective of mitigating risk and improving financial and operational performance
  • Evaluates the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls and reviews systems established
  • Provides mentoring and training to other auditors and team members
  • Leads audits and provides input based on assessment of risk, the system of internal controls, reliability of operating information, and compliance with regulatory requirements including applicable laws and the corporate standards of conduct
  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Seven or more years experience developing, directing, planning and evaluating internal audit programs for information systems.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Industrial), or related field; master’s degree in engineering, Business or related field a plus
  • 10 or more years of experience performing engineering analysis
  • Demonstrated experience performing analytics on large complex data sets including:
    • Identification of data flows and extraction of data for audit testing
    • Analysis using analytics software (excel, Tableau, PowerBI, Alteryx, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize data into findings and effectively communicate conclusions
  • Possess at least one of the following Certifications in Active status (or willing to obtain certification within 3 years of hire): Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or similar audit certification(s)
  • A minimum of 3 years performing operational audits or similar function.
  • Experience evaluating processes for implementation, operational effectiveness and efficiency, and compliance for utilities (FERC, NERC, CPUC, etc) or General Rate Case proceedings in California.
  • Experience working in an Electric/Gas/Water regulated utility environment.
  • Experience communicating technical concepts to various audiences at various levels, including those with a non-technical background.
  • Experience managing or leading a team of internal or contract resources.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate and interact with personnel at all levels throughout the organization, including executive management.

 

Additional Information 

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.  Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California.  Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
