In this job, you’ll be directly responsible for supervising multiple crews in performing new construction, maintenance and repairs of the electrical transmission and distribution system during both normal and storm conditions. You will ensure all aspects directly related to the construction and maintenance activities are optimized including material management, resource utilization and crew efficiency, while ensuring that safe work practices are followed. Responsibilities

  • Completes work orders related to transmission construction, maintenance, and repair, directing and coordinating crews to accomplish the installation and maintenance of equipment such as transformers, lightening arrestors, cutouts, insulators, switches and switchgear
  • Ensures work orders are designed per the construction standards, enforcing strict compliance with safety protocols and resolving any identified issues promptly and effectively
  • Reviews daily construction plans and materials needs with crews, identifies and locates puller and tensioner straps, and conducts site inspections to verify safe work methods are used
  • Ensures all work orders in the field align with standards and are designed per the Transmission Overhead Construction, Distribution Design Standard, Overhead and Underground Construction Standards manuals
  • Ensures in-field, on-site adherence to company policies and environmental guidelines on the job site, confirming that all work done aligns with established procedures
  • Responds to after-hours outage and emergency repair calls, supervising proper commissioning and testing prior to re-energization
  • Performs responsibilities related to sagging wire, phasing circuits through substations, grounding, and other aspects of distribution linework
  • Provides applicable training and development opportunities to employees and crew members, facilitating training sessions and offering feedback as appropriate
  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Two or more years of combined experience performing/supervising underground and overhead construction, maintenance, and operation of the electrical distribution system.
  • Possess a valid Class C Driver's License.

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Experience working with environmental compliance and regulatory requirements, including hazardous waste and yard management.
  • Experience leading bargaining unit employees, including labor relations matters and application of union agreements.
  • Experience applying safe work practices and construction/maintenance methods, techniques, tools, and equipment.
  • Experience with GO 95, 128, 165, and Accident Prevention Manual safety rules.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel and Word.
  • Experience in strategic decision-making, project and resource planning, results delivery, and staying current with technology and innovation.

 

Additional Information 

 

  • This position’s work mode is on-site. The employee will report to an SCE facility or in the field location.  Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.

  • Position will require up to 70% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory. 
  • This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation.  Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
  • Relocation does not apply to this position.
