As a key operational leader, you will coordinate complex schedules, provide technical oversight, and deliver data-driven insights that enhance reliability, reduce risk, and improve overall system performance. Responsibilities
- Performs frequent field and shop operation observations and on-site constructability reviews, documents pertinent safety information, and conducts job walks and project updates on various substation construction projects.
- Ensures and oversees the proper creation of construction reports and documentation, including schedules, team assessments, labor and manpower estimates, outage requests, accident and incident investigations, and inspection plans and reports.
- Collects information, analyzes data, and offers thorough recommendations on construction methods and strategies, long-term schedules, and/or training requirements.
- Ensures correct team timekeeping and accounting, including employee time off, interfacing with team members regarding daily work activities and developing and monitoring workloads to maximize resource utilization and streamline the overall workflow.
- Understands, implements and enforces organizational safety programs and policies; maintains a safety- focused culture by conducting timely and quality safety meetings on a periodic basis and assuring all safety bulletins and issues are understood and complied with.
- Prepares and implements detailed construction plans, inspections in progress and completed work, and establishes and coordinates schedules and outages for a number of concurrent diverse construction projects.
- Ensures appropriate training and career development of subordinates, administering discipline as needed and recognition where appropriate; develops performance expectations, conducts performance reviews and provides developmental feedback and training to subordinates.
- Interfaces with a number of diverse stakeholders including engineering, clients, substation maintenance and test personnel, operations, outside suppliers and agencies such as IBEW, in order to inform on, negotiate, and resolve issues.
- Facilitates the availability of proper resources, tools, vehicles, materials and other equipment, and the necessary training conducive to providing a safe work environment.
- Possesses comprehensive knowledge of the IBEW Collective Bargaining Agreement and Expense Agreements put forth by the IBEW and Labor Relations.
- A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.
Minimum Qualifications
- Four or more years of combined experience performing or supervising electric utility substation or substation utility construction.
- Possess a valid Class C Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Typically possesses two years of experience with inspecting, disassembling various substation power transformers and other substation apparatus.
- Demonstrated experience with environmental compliance, safe work practices, construction/ maintenance methods, techniques, tools and equipment.
Additional Information
- This position’s work mode is on-site. The employee will report to an SCE facility or in the field location. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
