Become a Field Safety Advisor at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this role, you will help to ensure the safety of our employees and contractors by utilizing your knowledge of electrical utility systems and generation operations. You will help to influence and enhance our safety programs, policies, and procedures. You will build strong relationships to strengthen our safety culture and serve as the safety subject matter expert for our front-line leaders and employees. You will collaborate with teams to identify and mitigate risks, helping to ensure an injury-free workplace. Your general responsibilities will include coaching on safety practices, implementing safety plans, and supporting various safety initiatives to drive continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
- Provides guidance and influence for specific organization's safety programs, policies and procedures; utilizes past experience in craft activities related to the design, construction and maintenance of the electric utility system to support safety functions
- Builds and maintains effective working relationships to influence safety culture improvement; acts as the safety conscience of the company supporting specific organization's front-line leaders and employees, and has understanding of operational needs
- Collaborates and aligns with specific organizations front-line leaders and employees by partnering with them to identify and mitigate risks that can lead to injuries, serious injuries and fatalities; holds specific organization's front-line leaders and employees accountable for meeting our goal for an injury-free workplace
- Coaches specific organization's front-line leaders and employees on safety, reinforcing desired behaviors by deepening their knowledge on work processes and guides them in methods that reduce risk
- Leads by coaching on safety and provides guidance to address unsafe behaviors. Facilitates the resolution of safety issues and concerns by working with front-line leaders and employees
- Implements the Safety Support Plan, subject matter expert to specific organizations work activities, safety related initiatives and provide customer service to influence, facilitate and align with OU partners
- Supports Safety Teams, Safety Congresses, OU Partner Staff Meetings, Cause Evaluations, and Policy and Procedure changes that contribute to defining the direction for new processes, standards or safety action plans with an impact on specific organizations results
- Guides front-line leaders and employees inquiries & informs decisions based on safety rules, policies & industry standards and identifies problems and solutions that may need to be escalated
- Reviews OU partners safety data, observation outcomes, corrective actions, and validates operational compliance by applying technical expertise and has foundational knowledge of other related disciplines
- Develops relationships to meet commitments and achieve results; collaborates with front-line leaders and employees to align efforts, integrate work, and exercises judgment to advise and recommend courses of action
- A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity
Minimum Qualifications
- Seven or more years of combined experience and skills in Electrical Utility craft, safety, or compliance programs, activities, or systems.
- Possess a valid Class C Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Environmental, Engineering, Business, Safety, or related field.
- Knowledge of electrical generation systems and operations.
- Knowledge of CAL/OSHA and other governmental regulations relating to the electric utility industry.
- Experience participating in safety investigations, determining root causes, and recommending solutions.
- Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP) or other applicable safety certifications.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience performing analyses and making recommendations for improvements in work methods.
Additional Information
- This position’s work mode is on-site. The employee will report to an SCE facility or in the field location. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.

- The primary work location for this position is at the SSID – Westminster office. However, the successful candidate may also be asked to work for an extended amount of time in other locations as needed.
- Position will require up to 80% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory.
- This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
