Become a Standards Laboratory Technician at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you’ll support the Standards Laboratory by performing high-accuracy electrical calibrations, testing, investigations, repairs, and modifications on a wide variety of electrical and electronic measuring instruments. This role supports laboratory and field operations by ensuring all measurement standards and equipment meet required accuracy, safety, and performance standards.

Responsibilities
- Perform technical, high-accuracy electrical calibrations, testing, investigations, repairs, and modifications on electrical and electronic instruments.
- Calibrates all laboratory working standards such as ammeters, voltmeters, watthour meters, bridges and electronic standards using primary standards.
- Records test data and calculates true values, % error and correction factors.
- Perform semi-skilled mechanical work, general housekeeping, and other unskilled tasks.
- A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.
Minimum Qualifications
- One or more years of experience performing semi-skilled mechanical work.
- Experience in electrical theory of D.C. and A.C. circuits and electronics.
- Possess and maintain a valid Class C License.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in electronics, metrology, or a related science field.
- Experience in testing and repairing electrical equipment.
- Basic understanding of mechanical theory and nomenclature.
- Basic understanding of fundamentals of electrical instrumentation and test methods.
- Operating principles of basic instruments used in electrical measurements
- Mathematics including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
- Experience using hand tools and power operated tools.
- Capability to lift, move, and position laboratory equipment (roughly 5–50 lbs.)
- Ability to perform physical work in shop or field conditions.
- Knowledge of general safety practices and first aid.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
Additional Information
- This position’s work mode is on-site. The employee will report to an SCE facility or in the field location. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.

Testing
- This position requires testing and applicants who are identified to continue through the selection process will be invited to test via email. Reference our Information Guides for the following tests: EEI TECH (Test #5107) and Laboratory Tech (Test #2671). Candidates who have previously passed these assessment(s), in some cases, may not need to retest again for this position.
